An unidentified G.W.R. 2-8-0 is in the centre of this view of Dai Woodham's Yard at Barry c.1967 Fortunately most of the locomotives on view have now had a 2nd lease of life.

G.W.R. 2-8-0 No. 3852 at Cohen's Yard, Cransley Nr. Kettering during 1965. This locomotive was built at Swindon in 1942 having had a working life of 22 years before being withdrawn from Coventry MPD in May 1964




GWR 0-6-2T No. 6656 outside Cohen's Yard at Kettering early in 1966. This locomotive was built by Armstrong Whitworth for the Great Western Railway during August 1928

From other contemporary photographs this locomotive is believed to be BB 4-6-2 No.34070 'Manston' at Barry c.1967. Photographer unknown.




WC/BB 4-6-2s Barry Island 1967 most locomotives were still complete.




2MT 2-6-2T No. 41313 Barry 1967




2MT 2-6-2T No. 41326 awaiting the torch at Kettering in October 1964. This loco. was built during April 1952 at Derby Works to a L.M.S. design and had a working life of only 12 years before being withdrawn from Brighton shed in May 1964




4F 0-6-0 No. 44113 at G. Cohen's Yard Kettering c.1965

No. 48064 8F 2-8-0 in G.Cohen's Yard at Kettering during August 1966. Judging by the shiny front wheel flange, the locomotive had not long been in this position




A4 4-6-2 Darlington 1965 - This locomotive has since been identified as 60010 'Dominion of Canada' by Paul Fraser, the double chimney had been removed for use on either 60004 or 60024. This locomotive is now in Canada




An pair of unidentified V2 2-6-2's await their final fate at Swindon in 1964, just visible on the nearest one's smoke box door is the inscription 'Old Faithful' A total of 15 V2s ended their days at Swindon




B1 4-6-0 No. 61158 having already lost its tender to the cutters torch awaits the same treatment at Cohens scrap yard near Kettering in 1966.
